The Supreme Council for Health (SCH) has launched an 'asthma-friendly schools' program which will be implemented in 16 independent primary schools for boys and girls from October.
The program will later be extended to all independent schools in the country.
The 'asthma-friendly schools' initiative is a unique educational experience designed to allow students with asthmatic conditions to take maximum advantage of available medical facilities at schools and to live in a normal social environment that supports them to develop their skills and improve their daily life.
According to Director of Health Promotion and Non-communicable Diseases at SCH DrSheikha al Anoudbint Mohammed al Thani, the initiative will offer awareness for schools' faculty and staff about asthma in order for them to help reduce cases of attacks and control them among students.
